Max Scherzer has a new home. The three-time Cy Young award winner has agreed to a one-year, $15.5 million deal with the Blue Jays, The Post’s Jon Heyman reported Thursday. Scherzer, coming off back surgery heading into 2024, was limited to just nine starts with the Rangers last season after dealing with multiple injuries.

Scherzer, the three-time Cy Young Award winner who turns 41 in July, has agreed to a one-year, $15.5 million contract with the Toronto Blue Jays, his fifth team in the past five seasons. MLB Network was first to report Scherzer was joining the Blue Jays.

Scherzer landed with the Rangers in 2023 via a trade from the Mets as they sold the team at the deadline. Between the Mets and Rangers in 2023, the three-time Cy Young winner posted a 3.77 ERA and a 1.120 WHIP across 152 2/3 innings.

The Toronto Blue Jays have had as poor of luck as any organization in free agency in recent offseasons after narrowly falling short on numerous big-time names the last two winters.
