MSP advises drivers to slow down to a speed that allows them to control their vehicle and to increase the distance between vehicles in case they do lose control.

"Many drivers were following too closely and driving way too fast," MSP stated in a social media post. "Weather doesn’t cause crashes, drivers do."

Officials asked in a separate post that motorists drive at least 10 miles per hour below posted speed limits while snowy road conditions continue.
