Madison’s Metro Transit BRT, or bus rapid transit route A started on Sunday, adding new electric busses, and implementing new bus stations across the city. Chief Development Officer, Mick Rusch, says things are running well for the new system.

MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison's new Bus Rapid Transit system, or BRT, officially launched on Sunday. "The last seven years we've really been working hard to implement it," said City of Madison Transportation Director Tom Lynch. "Today's the day. Today, we get to actually bring the next level of transit to Madison."

The upswing in ridership comes as Metro Transit has ambitious plans to expand service by 35% within three years. The Met Council, which operates Metro Transit, on Wednesday kicked off a public comment period to gather feedback about an initiative called Network Now.

MADISON (WKOW) -- The first ever bus rapid transit route will launch in Madison on Sunday, September 22. Metro’s Rapid Route A will offer 15-minute service Monday through Friday until 8:00 pm and until 7:00 pm on Saturdays. Thirty-minute service will be available on Sundays and holidays.
