WASHINGTON — A man was shot and killed by police in Northwest DC, after the Metropolitan Police Department said he crashed his car into a police car and repeatedly threatened officers with a knife. The shooting became the second time in one day that MPD officers shot at a suspects along Georgia Avenue.

The shooting occurred in the 3500 block of Georgia Avenue NW about 6:15 p.m. after a rapid series of events that began when the man’s car and a police vehicle collided, police said.

D.C. police officers shot and killed a man Tuesday night after he rammed his car into a police cruiser, attacked an officer with a knife and tried to carjack a passing motorist, authorities said.
