Launched by SpaceX, the GSAT-20 satellite will aim to enhance broadband connectivity across India, especially in remote areas.

Elon Musk 's space exploration firm SpaceX has successfully launched the Indian Space Research Organisation 's (ISRO) GSAT-20 communication satellite. The launch occurred from Florida's Cape Canaveral earlier today.

SpaceX achieved a global milestone by launching three Falcon 9 rockets in 20 hours, including one carrying India's advanced communication satellite, GSAT-20. This marked SpaceX's 112th, 113th, and 114th launches of the year.

This satellite is set to play a vital role in enhancing broadband services across India, including remote areas, and enabling in-flight internet connectivity.

This is also the first time ISRO has developed a satellite that only uses the advanced Ka-band frequency, which has a range of radio frequencies between 27 and 40 gigahertz (GHz) and allows the satellite to have a higher bandwidth.

The 4,700 kg satellite, GSAT-20, is set to transform broadband services across remote areas and provide in-flight Internet for passenger aircraft.
