New developments Tuesday reinforced the idea that President Donald Trump has significantly shifted his view of the Ukraine war.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy also held talks with a U.S. envoy on Monday on increasing weapons production and arms purchases.

Russia launched four missiles and 136 drones into Ukraine overnight into Monday morning, according to Ukraine's air force.

President Donald Trump is downplaying the possibility of sending Ukraine long-range weapons as Kyiv awaits an injection of U.S. weaponry that it hopes will help it beat back an intensifying Russian air offensive.

In a statement, NATO said NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte will be in Washington on Monday and Tuesday and meet with President Trump and key administration officials.

On Monday, Trump said that Russia's failure to reach a negotiated settlement with Ukraine within 50 days would lead to his administration imposing a 100% tariff rate on Russian imports as well as what he called "secondary tariffs" on countries that have continued to do business with Moscow.

Donald Trump’s remarks on Ukraine on Monday were far from the biggest announcement the US president could have made.

The reshuffle came just as Trump announced a new program to sell weapons to Ukraine in his most forceful declaration of support for Kyiv to date.
