The Colorado Avalanche spent years developing Justus Annunen, but short-term needs eventually outweighed the longterm investment.

DENVER — Colorado and Nashville have traded backup goaltenders, with the Predators receiving Justus Annunen and the Avalanche picking up Scott Wedgewood. The Predators also acquired a sixth-round pick in the 2025 NHL draft as part of the deal.

The Nashville Predators are near the bottom of the NHL at this point. Something needs to change, and Nashville swung a trade to shake things up a bit. The Predators traded goalie Scott Wedgewood to the Colorado Avalanche for goalie Justus Annunen and a draft pick.
