The country’s governing party had severed ties with the former president in July after he campaigned for an opposition party in the last general election.

Jacob Zuma was expelled from the ANC in July this year after he was found guilty of bringing the organisation into disrepute by forming and campaigning for another political organisation.

Former President Jacob Zuma is no longer a member of the African National Congress (ANC). He was officially expelled from the ANC on Friday. This follows the party’s national disciplinary committee of appeal’s decision upholding his earlier expulsion for endorsing and leading the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) party.
