Dozens of transgender people, along with their families and allies, gathered outside the Supreme Court on Wednesday as the justices considered a Tennessee law banning access to puberty blockers and hormone therapy for trans minors.

The wide-ranging argument at the Supreme Court touched on the approaches of other nations, the relevance of a previous ruling protecting transgender workers from workplace discrimination and the rights of parents.

In the first major transgender rights case to hit the Supreme Court, the justices are considering whether states can ban healthcare for trans minors.
