Commissioners continue to question $35 million in annual funding to Dell Medical School, express concern about relationship with CommUnity Care.

After last week’s confusing and concerning audit report on Travis County’s health care district Central Health, the Commissioners Court this week put off voting on the district’s budget and a 6.5 percent tax rate increase for Fiscal Year 2025

Commissioners said they needed another week to parse out concerns about Central Health’s payments to UT's Dell Medical School, as well as an ongoing conflict between Central Health and its partner clinic, CommUnityCare. There is a ticking clock on Travis County’s decision as Central Health’s new fiscal year begins Oct. 1.

Tarrant County commissioners surprised the leaders of the county’s public hospital Tuesday by lowering its tax rate to 18.25 cents per $100 of assessed value, down from the previously planned rate of 18.

County commissioners will make about $214,000 a year, and the county judge will make about $224,000 after a 3% raise.
