mee6 has been scummy for a very, very, long time now, to the point that i wont stay in servers that use the bot; its obnoxious, unwieldy, and increasingly more greedy

MEE6 premium really is a premium service now. For the majority of server administrators, you can probably just fill the gaps with several free alternative bots instead.
