Before arriving at their basic training units, U.S. Army Trainees arrive at Reception Battalions to in-process into the Army. Reception is where Trainees are introduced to the Army Values and Warrior Ethos and administratively entered into the Army system. This important step ensures that all Trainees are in-processed into the Army effectively so they can begin their transition into Soldiers with minimal interruptions to their busy 10-week training. During Basic Training, or One Station Unit Training, Trainees are exposed to the Modern Army Combatives Program (MACP) and taught how to respond to an enemy rapidly closing their distance appropriately.
